FAQ:

What the heck is a PDGA Sanctioned Event?
Can I play? Am I good enough to play? Why Should I play?

A PDGA (Professional Disc Golf Association) Sanctioned Event is a disc golf tournament that meets a specific set of guidelines set forth by PDGA. These guidelines are put in place and enforced as a way to guarantee to players that when they see "Sanctioned Event", they can expect a professionally run tournament. Check out www.pdga.com

Anyone and everyone without any restrictions can play. Although PDGA members get a $10 discount at these tournaments as a form of "Thank You", registration does not segregate or reserve any spots for PDGA members...first come first serve. Although, $30 (typical non-PDGA entry fee) may seem a bit hefty, most tournaments give you "Player Packs" just for showing up which typically include a brand new disc along with other disc golf gear. In addition, tournaments are also filled with prize discs for placing within your division along with other side contests (closest to the pin, longest drive, etc...).

Are you good enough? Of course. Tournaments are divided several divisions: From Rec (players new to the sport with less than a year's experience) to Mens Advanced (Players with several years experience who play routinely) and everything else in between. Divisions are designed to promote competition, exposing players to players of similar calibers.

Why should you play? It is no secret that in the 36 holes of tournament play, you will learn and be exposed to more than in 360 holes of playing within your small group of friends. In one calendar day you will throw discs you never heard of, witness new throwing styles, learn new rules and certainly make you disc golf contacts.

Still not sure? Come out and just watch - totally free. Within a half an hour being there, you'll be getting excited to register for next year's event.
